چکیده
This study aimed to evaluate the forage mass and nutritional value (NV) of Guinea Massai grass (Megathyrsus maximus × Megathyrsus infestum) in an open pasture (OP) or silvopastoral system (SPS) at different stages development (SDs). The experimental design was completely randomized, with five replications. treatments were distributed a factorial scheme 2 4, corresponding types systems (OP SPS) four SD (vegetative stage—S1, pre-flowering—S2, full flowering—S3 maturity after flowering—S4). There no interaction stage plant any variables evaluated. production morphological components did not differ (p > 0.05) between SPS OP. However, they differed SDs ≤ 0.05), increasing linear effect for mass, percentage stem, dead material, decreasing leaf leaf: stem ratio. Only protein content < among chemical composition culture systems. shading caused by decrease NV, vitro dry matter digestibility compared advance increases higher proportions low such as material. Silvopastoral eucalyptus is effective prolongate grazing season, greater amount green leaves sward better without compromising herbage growing season.

Herbage mass, nutritive value and canopy spectral reflectance of bermudagrass pastures
Timely and accurate detection of above-ground herbage mass and the nutritive value of pastures can help the more efficient adjustment of stocking rate and determine the timing of protein supplements to be fed to livestock grazing these pastures. The objectives of this study were to determine seasonal variation in herbage mass, neutral-detergent fibre (NDF), aciddetergent fibre (ADF) and crude p...
متن کاملWarm-Season Grasses for Hay and Pasture
Switchgrass, Indiangrass, and big bluestem are warmseason grasses that are a suitable alternative for summer pasture in Iowa. Their advantage over cool-season grasses such as bluegrass, bromegrass, and orchardgrass is their ability to produce during midsummer. These warm-season perennial grasses start growing in late spring as air and soil temperatures increase. Leaf growth often occurs in earl...
متن کاملSward Factors Influence on Pasture Dry Matter Intake of Grazing Dairy Cows: A Review
Successful pasture-based milk production systems pivot on balancing dairy cows’ feed requirements with seasonal and annual fluctuations in pasture production. In order to maximise cow production from grazing dairy systems, it is necessary to reach an efficient utilization of grazed grass for feeding cows and the development of appropriate grazing management systems designed to maximize daily pa...

The experiment was a completely randomized design following a repeated measurement arrangement. The experimental animals...
متن کاملDefoliation, Shoot Plasticity, Sward Structure and Herbage Utilization in Pasture: Review of the Underlying Ecophysiological Processes
Sward structure affects herbage growth, pasture species dynamics, and herbage utilization. Defoliation management has a major impact on sward structure. In particular, tiller size-tiller density compensations allow for the maintenance of herbage growth. Tiller size and tiller density are determined by several major morphogenetical components. Defoliation affects these morphogenetical components...
